Jingfu (Jeff) An, born in 1955 in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China. In 1978, he began to study as a student majored in English language and literature from Shanxi In 1985, he pursued a master’s degree in Film Theory and History at the Beijing Film Academy, graduating in 1988. After graduation, he remained at the academy to teach and conduct research, specializing in American cinema, genre films, and participating in film productions, including “Black Snow” (1990, directed by Xie Fei). In 1992, he taught Chinese cinema at Columbia College in Chicago, USA as a visiting scholar before later transitioning to business. He is now retired but continues to participate in film festivals, write film reviews, and develop screenplays.
